There’s been a lot going on over here at Rule Zero, and I’d like to take a second to share some of the stuff that’s happening.

Frankie and I had the chance to be on Shootin the Shit, where we talked about Rule Zero, the Iron Man 3 trailer, the importance of a Zombie Survival Plan, and a whole bunch of other topics. Also of note was the very timely discussion regarding must-watch horror movies for Halloween. Give it a listen, follow Shootin the Shit on Facebook, and if  you’d like us to be on the show again or want to drop them a line, email them at shootintheshitonline@gmail.com.

I also want to draw your attention to a little something Frankie and I have been working on in the background. If you cast your eyes to the top of the page, under our logo, you’ll see a new link in the menu for the official Rule Zero forum! Over the next couple days we’re going to be adding threads and tightening things up, but we encourage you to jump in early and start posting. We’re really excited to set up a community and get to know everyone. If you have any suggestions for the forums, we’ve got a thread set up for feedback. Or of course you can email Frankie or me directly.

The last thing I’d like to mention is that I’ve lost my job. I was at the local library for eleven years, and after a nice productive career I was let go. This gives me a lot of time now to work on Rule Zero, and while things are tough, I’m crazy excited about this opportunity. My dream has always been to be a cartoonist, and I’m doing that now. We’ll never charge for the comic or require payment of any kind for it, but if you’re interested in helping us with our goal of financial stability through the comic, there are some things you can do:

  • If you run something like NoScript or any other kind of ad blocker, it would help us out if you added us to the list of sites where you can see ads. At the moment, ads are the single way we can generate revenue. If you let ads run on this site for you, it helps us out a lot. No one likes ads, but if you would consider letting our ads run for you, we’d really appreciate it.
  • Ads that are viewed help out, but ads that are clicked on help even more. One reader we talked to clicked on a few ads, and our revenue jumped considerably. Think of clicking on ads like a Tip Jar. A click or three now and then really does a lot of good for us!
  • We are really happy to have the readers we have, but we would like to get even more people here to enjoy the comic. If you could help us by sharing the comic through Facebook, Twitter, or your social media weapon of choice, we would greatly appreciate it. We already have readers who help us by sharing the comic on a regular basis, but we could always use more. If you know anyone that may like what we do here, send them our way. And if you’re not sure, share the comic; you never know who’s going to like it.

Thank you for continuing to read the comic and for all the support you’ve already given. We’re truly humbled to have our work enjoyed by people, and we’re pushing ourselves more and more to deliver the best comic we can. Starting next week, look for more blog posts, hang with us in the forums, and keep an eye out for more announcements. And follow us on Twitter to get comic updates!
